Pinched Nerve in Lower Back

It is natural to face localized lower back pain for a short period during the day. Lower back pain which is still restricted and moving down to the lower part of the body is an indicator of the state of the pinched nerve. Also referred to as affecting or compressed nerve, pinched nerve occurs as a result of too much pressure being put on the nerves of the surrounding tissue, which includes muscles and bones.

Symptoms

Herniated disc

Pain relievers
Pain management with over the counter pain relievers is an inexpensive way to reduce symptoms. Painkillers such as aspirin, acetaminophen, ibuprofen, commonly used to relieve pain. However, one needs to contact your doctor to find out the exact dose of medication. Overdose increases the risk of suffering from side effects such as liver problems.

Cold packs
Wrap ice cubes in a thin cloth or towel and then apply it on the area causing pain for 10-15 minutes, is an old remedy to relieve the pain associated with a pinched nerve or inflamed.

Thermal therapy
Can be applied to heating pads or moist heat in the form of a hot shower bath provide significant relief of neurological status within narrow limits. And heat therapy reduce the severity of pain, thus allowing the person to continue with his daily routine. Basically, the heat stimulates blood circulation in the affected area.

Surgery
Rarely one has to undergo surgery to get rid of the case of the compressed nerve. In most cases, the treatment options mentioned above are useful to release pressure on the nerve-ROM. Cut off part of the protruding disc that is often considered the best solution from a herniated disc or bulging. For people who suffer from spinal stenosis, the surgeon cuts off part of the bone that may come very close to the spinal cord. This helps to increase the space between the spinal cord and spinal column (spine), thus completely removing the pressure on the nerves.

Exercises can also help to accelerate the healing of a pinched nerve condition. Muscles can tighten or severe in the lumbar region puts pressure on the nerves that pass through it. It also contains muscles, nerves, and exercises that elongate the muscle and improve flexibility to reduce the use of pressure on the nerve. Can exercises such as sit-ups, hamstring stretch, stretch again flexion and those that are using the exercise ball work wonders to relieve tight muscles, thereby reducing pain.
